Four 1940s Gump's Hand Painted Chinoiserie Arm Chairs USACirca 1940s With excellent patina and carving, these four lacqured and gilt Chinese inspired armchairs were originally purchased at the Gump's department store, in San Francisco. Johan Tapp created furniture for Gumps during this period, but the maker is as yet unconfirmed. Derived from classic Asian forms, with subtle Greek key design at the end of each stretcher and leg. Original loose seat cushions with hand painted foliate details to the bentwood back.
